A CHARTER ORDINANCE REPEALING CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 10 AND LOWERING THE QUORUM NECESSARY FOR A CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY OF YATES CENTER, KANSAS FROM SIX (6) MEMBERS TO FIVE (5) MEMBERS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Yates Center, Kansas:
Section I. That the City of Yates Center, Kansas, by authority granted cities in Article XII of Section V of the Constitution of Kansas and K.S.A. 12-101, as amended, is empowers to determine their local affairs and government by ordinance, hereby elects to lower the quorum requirements for a City Council meeting of the City of Yates Center, Kansas, from six (6) members to a majority of the members, being five (5) members.
Section II. That the City of Yates Center, Kansas, by the authority granted cities in Article XII of Section V of the Constitution of Kansas, previously deemed it appropriate to exempt itself and make inapplicable to the said City of Yates Center, Kansas, K.S.A. 14-111, which applies to said city, but which is not uniformly applicable to all cities and to provide substitute and additional provisions on the same subject;
Section III. That from and after the date that this Charter Ordinance takes effect, the quorum necessary for all City Council meetings for the City of Yates Center, Kansas, shall be five (5) members of the Council members elected to constitute a quorum to do business and all provisions of Section 1-204 of the Code of the City of Yates Center, Kansas, or Charter Ordinance No. 10, to the contrary are made void and inapplicable to the City of Yates Center, Kansas.
