A CHARTER ORDINANCE RAISING THE QUORUM NECESSARY FOR A CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY OF YATES CENTER, KANSAS FROM FIVE MEMBERS TO SIX MEMBERS.
Section 1. That the
City of Yates Center, Kansas, by authority granted cities in Article XII of
Section V of the Constitution of Kansas and K.S.A. 12-101, is empowered to
determine their local affairs and government by ordinance, hereby elects to
raise the quorum requirements for a city council meeting of the City of Yates
Center, Kansas, from a majority of the members elects to six members.
Section 2. That the
City of Yates Center, Kansas, by the authority granted cities in Article XII of
Section V of the Constitution of Kansas deems it appropriate to exempt itself
and make inapplicable to the said City of Yates Center, Kansas, K.S.A. 14-111,
which applies to said city, but which is not uniformly applicable to all cities
and to provide substitute and additional provisions on the same subject.
Section 3. That from
and after the date that this charter ordinance takes effect, the quorum
necessary for all city council meetings for the City of Yates Center, Kansas,
shall be six members of the council members elect to constitute a quorum to do
business and all provisions of K.S.A. 14-111 and section 1-204 of the Code of
the City of Yates Center, Kansas, to the contrary are made void and
inapplicable to the City of Yates Center, Kansas.
